BOHOL escapades

Day 2 of our 4 days vacation in Visayas region. Next Stop is Island of Bohol.
It is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Philippines,
with its beaches and resorts and some historic places as well.

On our way to Tagbilaran City. The Capital of Bohol, a 1 hour and 45 minutes ride from Cebu by fast craft. Little bit excited though this is not my first time to come in this place but very first time to take pleasure in the scenic view of the island with mi amore :)

Shades Great Smile from us welcoming ourselves at tagbilaran city. . hahaha

First stop on the island is on the statue commemorating the "Blood Compact" in tagbilaran city. The blood compact is also depicted on Bohol's provincial flag
and the Bohol provincial seal.

On the background is the famous Loboc river and it's floating restaurant.
it is now one of the major destinations of tourist both local and foreigners.
Located in the municipality of Loboc, a 24 kilometers away from tagbilaran city.
As the boat takes of, the buffet begins. and while sailing a band plays music.
different boats play different style of music.

(LEFT) a smile with my sister (RIGHT) banana cheers after our heavy lunch,
two thumbs up for their food. So delicious and infairness all filipino cuisine.

(LEFT) the floating restaurant (RIGHT) Busay Waterfall, this was the end of almost 1 hour trip in a floating restaurant. It's just about one and half meter at most waterfall. This is the mark where the floating restaurant cannot go any further. so here they stay for a while to enjoy the breath taking scenic view of Loboc river.

and on our way back have some souvenir picture with the philippine tarsier,
considered the second smallest primate in the world. Still located in Loboc.

On our way to Chocolate hills, we pass through the Man-Made Forest of Bilar, Bohol. It is basically a 2 kilometer rain forest with mahogany trees as the main features. the real joy of exploring the man-made forest is going all the way up the winding road. So better fasten your seat belt guys :)

After completing our heavy lunch, we continue our tour with a visit in Choclate Hills in Carmen, Bohol. It is probably Bohol's most famous tourist attraction. and in order for you to see the whole scenic view of the chocolate hills you must climb the 214 steps to the top.

It was considered one of Philippine's natural wonders and Bohol is often referred to as the Jewel of the Philippines. They are hills made of limestone left over from coral reefs during the ice age when the island was submerged. They turn brown during the summer, hence their name.

(LEFT) Next to our list is the hanging bridge and it is located across the upper part of the Loboc river. It is made of a hanging bamboo approximately 20 meters above Loboc River and sways back and forth as you walk. (RIGHT) Snapshot at the altar of Baclayon Church. One of the oldest churches in the Philippines
After our short visit at Baclayon church, our next stop is at Panglao Island.
We are supposed to stay here overnight but unfortunately there were no available rooms Sad
well basically, Panglao is a small island known for it's quiet beach resorts
and several great wide variety of dive sites.

just a souvenir shot on the resort where we are supposed
to stay overnight cry After our Panglao trip, we returned to Tagbilaran City.
Though lets say it's a shattered dreams for us that we haven't stayed in Panglao
but all in all satisfied with a day well spend Big Smile

CEBU escapades

it's our 3rd day of having fun fun fun... Cebu escapade, the city
where our love begins?? LOL... celebrating our 3rd anniversary together.
so much memories in this place, 3 years ago close to this date (07-11-2010)
we are just collegues in college, slight friends and offismates...

at Taoist Temple which is located in Beverly Hills subdivision, Cebu City.
It is the center of worship for Taoism. It was built by cebu's substantial Chinese community. With an elevation of 300 meters above sea level :)

(Leff) Taoist Temple Cebu City (Right) Lapu-Lapu shrine Mactan Island, Cebu. There is a spot in Lapu-Lapu City in Mactan island that's revered by islanders more than any other place. A marker says it was on that site that a man who had sought dominion over the island in the name of the Spanish king had died in the hands of the brave warrior chieftain Lapu-Lapu 485 years ago

(Left) Statue of Lapu-Lapu in the background, erected in honor of Datu lapu-Lapu, a muslim king who defeated Spanish soldiers & killed Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in the battle of Mactan in 1521.  (Right) at Magellan's Cross, a christian cross planted by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in cebu city on 1521.. Unfortunately, the one who got our picture on this site didn't capture the whole cross. LOL... but it was a cross on background :)
